2008 Stanley Cup Playoff Video - Flames @ Sharks Game 7

by Jeanne on April 23rd, 2008

The Calgary Flames headed to the HP Pavillion last night where they battled the San Jose Sharks and it was a good game - at first.  Both teams came out fighting and I was on the edge of my seat.  Then the Sharks scored four times in like 20 minutes and Flames coach Mike Keenan made, what I consider, a very bad mistake - he pulled Miikka Kiprusoff

I’m sorry but at that point, Kipper had faced something like 30 shots on goal.  What Keenan should have done was call a time-out and kick the sh*t out of the defensemen.  I mean, how were the Sharks getting that many shots off?  How is that all Kipper’s fault?  So, what happens?  They put Curtis Joseph between the pipes and he’s scored on in less than a minute.  It was one of the few times that Kipper looked pretty upset - he’s usually so calm.

I gotta say, though, that Jeremy Roenick was incredible during that game.  So many people have counted him out since he came back from semi-retirement but he showed that maturity and experience sometimes matter more than all the youth and hype in the world (yeah, I’m talking to you Alexander Ovechkin!).  Here’s the scoring summary:

CGY: Iginla, J. (PPG, 12:23 in 1st), Nolan, O. (03:33 in 2nd), Primeau, W. (05:18 in 3rd)

SJS: Thornton, J. (PPG, 10:57 in 1st), Roenick, J. (06:04 in 2nd), Roenick, J. (PPG, 09:04 in 2nd), Pavelski, J. (14:01 in 2nd), Setoguchi, D. (14:53 in 2nd)
