Anaheim Ducks Get No Love at Home?
I’m on the plane on my way home from Los Angeles/Anaheim where I’ve been for the past week. Actually, I stayed about 10 minutes away from the Honda Center. Since I knew hockey wasn’t as big in California, I told my son that we might be able to score some sweet deals on NHL stuff since it would probably be selling for less. Too bad I didn’t realize how hard it was to actually find any hockey gear.
At Disneyland, we ate lunch at the ESPN Zone where they have a shop. There was not a single Anaheim Ducks or hockey-related item in the place. Didn’t Disney produce three Mighty Ducks movies? Then, we went to four different malls and not one store in any of them carried hockey stuff. In fact, Champs in the Mainplace mall told us that they “are not that kind of store.” What?!?!?!
We made our way to the Honda Center but the Ducks store was closed. It has really limited hours so we didn’t even try to go back.
I’m not a Ducks fan but I have to say that the experience made me kind of sad. Any Anaheim fans know what I’m talking about? Did I just look in the wrong places? What about the other American markets? Is it just as tough to find hockey gear?

[…] This whole situation hardly seems fair. Canadian teams shouldn’t have to worry about this. Those six teams are helping pay for those in weaker markets like Nashville and Anaheim (don’t get me started on that one again). […]
