Calgary Flames Captain Jarome Iginla Tops Fleury’s Record
Calgary Flames captain, Jarome Iginla, broke Theoren Fleury’s franchise goal scoring record. Last night at 18:27 into the Flames’ 7-3 win over the St. Louis Blues at the Pengrowth Saddledome, Iggy got his 365th career goal when he one-timed a feed from Kristian Huselius past Manny Legace (who was pulled).
”I was definitely happy to get it at home and to get it in a win,” said Iginla, who is finishing up his 11th NHL season, all with Calgary. ”I have a lot of good memories here. My first goal was here in the playoffs (in 1996). Time flies.”
Fleury was not in the building for the milestone goal, but the team showed a short pre-recorded congratulatory message on the jumbotron that concluded with Fleury smiling and saying, ”See you at 500.”
