Canada Wins Final World Junior Exhibition Game

by Jeanne on December 23rd, 2007

Canada was victorious in their 4-2 win over Finland today in the team’s final exhibition game.  Their first World Junior Hockey Championship game will be against the Czech Republic on Wednesday.

Shawn Matthias scored a pair of goals for Canada, while goalie Steve Mason made 32 saves in the tuneup contest before a crowd of 2,500 spectators in Chrudin, Czech Republic.

Drew Doughty and Brad Marchand also scored for Canada, which won all three of its exhibition games.

Niko Aaltonen and Ville Lajunen scored for Finland.

I always like watching the world junior tournament, which showcases players who are 19-years-old and under.  It’ll be exciting to see them take on the Czech Republic.
