Case Against Canucks Owner is “Hogwash”

Am I a bad hockey fan for not really knowing or caring about this story? Apparently, Vancouver Canucks owner, Francesco Aquilini is being sued by two men who tried to buy the team.
A lawyer for the owner of the Vancouver Canucks says a lawsuit against his client by failed bidders for the club is “hogwash dressed up in a tuxedo.”
Michael Shapray was making closing arguments Tuesday in B.C. Supreme Court in Vancouver in defence of Francesco Aquilini, who is being sued by fellow businessmen Tom Gaglardi and Ryan Beedie.
Francesco Aquilini is being sued by two failed bidders for the Canucks.
The three men at one time worked together on a bid to buy the team, but Aquilini later struck a deal for the club on his own in late 2004.
Gaglardi and Beedie said Aquilini stabbed them in the back, but Shapray said that claim is outrageous.
He said it’s unreasonable to think that three businessmen who hardly knew each other when they first met in November 2003 had formed a legal partnership.
Shapray said the suit by Gaglardi and Beedie is fuelled by the spite of two vengeful men bent on slinging mud and ruining reputations.
