Senators @ Sabres - October 27, 2008

The visiting Ottawa Senators proved to be too hot to handle for the Buffalo Sabres with the Sens skating to an easy 5-2 win.  Jason Spezza (Ottawa) had a great night, scoring two of the five goals.  Here is the scoring summary:

OTT: Schubert, C. (PPG, 18:06 in 1st), Heatley, D. (PPG, 00:19 in 2nd), […]

Rangers @ Islanders - October 27, 2008

It was another chapter in the “Battle of New York” last night when the New York Rangers visited the New York Islanders.  The game got off to a crazy start when, within the first minute, the Isles made and incredible goal from behind the net.  The Rangers quickly recovered and ended up winning 4-2.  Here […]

Ducks @ Blue Jackets - October 27, 2008

The Anaheim Ducks visited the Columbus Blue Jackets last night and, while they ended up with a 3-2 win, I felt like the Ducks defense really let goaltender, Jean Sebastien Giguere, down at times because he’d make an amazing save and then he’d have to face more shots within seconds.  Get it together, Anaheim!  Here […]

Blackhawks @ Wild - October 27, 2008

The Minnesota Wild led the visiting Chicago Blackhawks for most of the game and went on to a 3-2 win at home last night.  I think Hawks goaltender, Cristobal Huet, was feeling emotional last night and you could really see his frustration after Antti Miettien scored on him in the second period.  Here is the […]

Boston Bruins @ Edmonton Oilers - October 27, 2008

It was a hard-fought battle last night in Alberta with both the Edmonton Oilers and Boston Bruins remaining scoreless through the third period and finally, the game was decided in overtime when the Bruins were given a power play and were able to celebrate a 1-0 victory.  Here is the scoring summary:

BOS: Wideman, D. (PPG, […]

NHL Hockey Best of the Week: Oct. 28, 2008

This was a pretty great week for plays and saves across the NHL.  The highlights from the Boston Bruins/Buffalo Sabres match up are my favorite but oh my gawd - that goal by Marian Hossa was amazing.  That might be my favorite goal of the season so far.  Watch the highlights from this past week:

Technorati […]

Coyotes Beat Caps in Low-Scoring Game

After losing the last three games, Phoenix Coyotes coach, Wayne Gretzky, decided it was time to shake things up so he chose to put backup goaltender, Mikael Tellqvist between the pipes and it seems to have been a good plan - the netminder made 31 saves.  The only time the Washington Capitals scored in their […]

Colorado Routes Edmonton in 4-1 Victory

Ian Laperriere notched a Gordie Howe Hat Trick (goal, assist and a fight) and played a vital role in his team’s 4-1 victory over the Edmonton Oilers.  That wasn’t the only thing he was fired up about, though.  He was pretty upset that Oilers coach, Craig McTavish, chose to send enforcers onto the ice at […]

Iginla Nets Hat Trick in Flames Win Over Predators

The Nashville Predators took an early 2-goal lead over the Calgary Flames tonight and, with how the Flames have been playing in the third period so far this season, it didn’t look too promising.  Some way, some how, the team pulled it together and, in the 5-3 victory, Calgary captain, Jarome Iginla was central since […]

Penguins Score 4-1 Win Over Hurricanes

It almost looked, for a while, like the Carolina Hurricanes were going to shut out the Pittsburgh Penguins.  Canes centre, Brandon Sutter, got his first career goal in the first period and the team held the Pens at bay until well into the third when, finally, captain Sidney Crosby scored a power play goal.  It […]
