Hilary Duff and Mike Comrie See "The Dark Night"

served by picapp.com

Did any of you go to see The Dark Knight?  Looks like Mike Comrie (NY Islanders) and his famous girlfriend, Hilary Duff, did since they were spotted at the Arclight Cinema in Hollywood going where it was showing.  I personally loved the movie (went to see the midnight showing on opening day).  […]

Sidney Crosby Wins "Best NHL Player" at Espy Awards

Pittsburgh Penguins captain, Sidney Crosby, took home the prize for “Best NHL Player” at the 2008 ESPY Awards at the Nokia Center in California.  Congrats to Sidney!
Since hockey isn’t too big in the States, I can’t help but wonder if they just picked him because he’s popular rather than it being based solely on […]

Andre Roy is moving from the Tampa Bay Lightning to join their 2003-2004 Stanley Cup rivals, the Calgary Flames.
”Andre is a player with a Stanley Cup championship (he was on the team when they beat Calgary in 2004), who provides us with a dimension that is still important in the league,” said Flames general […]

Lupul is Staying with Philadelphia Flyers

Joffrey Lupul has been making the rounds this past couple years but it looks like he won’t be traded this summer (as was the case in both 2007 and 2006).  He has reportedly agreed to the terms of a 4-year extension with the Philadelphia Flyers (announcement is expected on Monday).
He had a decent year […]

Ryan Miller Gets 5-Year Contract with Sabres

I’m happy about this.  Goaltender Ryan Miller seems like a good fit for the Buffalo Sabres and, although the team (and netminder) could have had a better season, I believe they can do well together once the organization recovers from the loss of players like Daniel Briere.
Buffalo has extended a 5-year contract worth […]

Veilleux Avoids Arbitration, Staying with Wild

Stephane Veilleux was able to avoid a salary arbitration hearing by agreeing to the terms of a one-year deal with the Minnesota Wild.  He’s a major part of their game (even though I think he misses the net… a lot!) and I like him so I’m glad things worked out.  He scored a career high […]

Blackhawks Name Toews New Captain!

WOW!!!!!!!!!!!!!  The Chicago Blackhawks have named Jonathan Toews their captain for the upcoming season.  This would make the centre (who just finished his rookie season) the third-younges player to ever be named the leader of an NHL team!  The two other baby cap’ns have been Sidney Crosby (Pittsburgh) and Vincent Lecavalier (Tampa Bay).
”Jonathan deserves […]

The New York Islanders have come to an agreement with 24-year-old Dane, Frans Nielsen.  He has signed a $2.1 million deal that will keep him with the club for the next four years.

Maple Leafs Are Actually Giving Away Tickets

The Toronto Maple Leafs have added a pre-season game to their schedule on September 22, 2008 against the Buffalo Sabres and they are giving away all of the tickets for free.  Management is hoping for a different kind of crowd: “Getting more young kids in the building always adds to the excitement (and) just […]
