NHL to Take 2nd Look at Hit on Van Ryn

The NHL will be reviewing Tom Kostopoulos’ (Montreal Canadiens) hit on Mike Van Ryn (Toronto Maple Leafs).  Van Ryan has subsequently been sidelined for at least a month with a concussion, gash to the forehead, broken nose and a broken bone in his hand.  Yeah, he basically got pretty jacked up.
Kostopoulos got a major penalty […]

Marty Turco Gives Away Puck, Loses Game

In what some people are already calling the “worst blunder of the season,” Dallas Stars goaltender, Marty Turco, basically gave the puck to San Jose Sharks captain, Patrick Marleau, allowing him to score with just 28.3 seconds left on the clock.  It really is awful and, actually, pretty surprising given the fact that Turco is […]

Lack of NHL Injury Disclosure - What Do You Think?

There are all these vague descriptions floating around about what is wrong with players who are knocked out of the lineup and I’m wondering what you guys think about that.  Last year, all teams were required to fully disclose the nature of a player’s injury but that didn’t go over so well with some […]

NHL Saves of the Week - November 6, 2008

There is some seriously good goaltending in this set of highlights.  I love saves more than anything, I think.  Tim Thomas (Boston Bruins) was a bit of a superstar last week, that group effort by the Florida Panthers when netminder, Thomas Vokoun, was caught out of the net was incredible and, of course, I loved […]

NHL Hits of the Week - November 6, 2008

If you’ve been reading this blog for a while, you’ll know I’m not the biggest fan of hits.  I don’t dislike them, or anything, they just aren’t usually my favorite part of the game but I’m always a sucker for the hits that send someone into the players’ bench or make someone do a big […]

NHL Goals of the Week - November 6, 2008

There was some sick stickhandling going on last week across the league which resulted in a few spectacular goals!  That goal on Detroit Red Wings goaltender, Chris Osgood (#7 against the Anaheim Ducks) was crazy good.  I remember screaming and rewinding the goal that Todd Bertuzzi made (#6) and that Patrice Bergeron (Minnesota Wild) blast […]

Brodeur Needs Surgery, Out 3-4 Months!!!

OH NO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!  THIS IS AWFUL!!!  The New Jersey Devils were dealt some terrible news today - star goaltender, Martin Brodeur, needs surgery to repair a torn bicep and will be out of the lineup for 3-4 months while he recuperates!
He was hurt during the second period of the game against the Atlanta Thrashers […]

No Maple Leaf for Team Canada at Olympics

Hockey fans can say goodbye to Team Canada’s signature look.  The International Olympic Committee has ordered the Canadians to redesign their jerseys for the 2010 Vancouver Olympics because they display Hockey Canada’s logo (skater inside of a black and red maple leaf).  Apparently, Olympic teams can’t show their country’s sports federation logo on their jerseys.  […]
