NHL on Versus Preview: Flyers vs. Thrashers - October 28, 2008

Tonight the Philadelphia Flyers will face off against the Atlanta Thrashers.  The game, which will air on Versus, should be interesting since the Flyers have won 10 straight against Atlanta.  I’d love to see the Thrashers come out swinging because that record is just embarrassing.

Sarah Palin Drops Puck at Blues Game

Republican Vice Presidential hopeful, Sarah Palin, dropped the puck tonight when the St. Louis Blues hosted the Los Angeles Kings.  It sounds like she didn’t get booed as much this time (she apparently was met with jeers at the Philadelphia Flyers opener).  I guess she’s really trying to make sure we all know she’s just […]

Lucic’s Glass-Shattering Check - Video

A mere 18 seconds into the second period of the Boston Bruins vs. Toronto Maple Leafs game Thursday night, Milan Lucic (Boston) smacked Mike Van Ryn (Toronto) so hard into the glass that it shattered.  It’s like Van Ryn had something to prove after that because he scored almost exactly six minutes later and the […]

Coyotes Beat Caps in Low-Scoring Game

After losing the last three games, Phoenix Coyotes coach, Wayne Gretzky, decided it was time to shake things up so he chose to put backup goaltender, Mikael Tellqvist between the pipes and it seems to have been a good plan - the netminder made 31 saves.  The only time the Washington Capitals scored in their […]

Colorado Routes Edmonton in 4-1 Victory

Ian Laperriere notched a Gordie Howe Hat Trick (goal, assist and a fight) and played a vital role in his team’s 4-1 victory over the Edmonton Oilers.  That wasn’t the only thing he was fired up about, though.  He was pretty upset that Oilers coach, Craig McTavish, chose to send enforcers onto the ice at […]

Sabres Get 4-3 Overtime Win Over Wild

It was a close game last night between the Buffalo Sabres and the Minnesota Wild.  Drew Stafford (Sabres) opened up the scoring in the first period and the two teams answered each other’s goals for the rest of the game.  It went to overtime where, after just 44 seconds, Derek Roy put one in the […]

Iginla Nets Hat Trick in Flames Win Over Predators

The Nashville Predators took an early 2-goal lead over the Calgary Flames tonight and, with how the Flames have been playing in the third period so far this season, it didn’t look too promising.  Some way, some how, the team pulled it together and, in the 5-3 victory, Calgary captain, Jarome Iginla was central since […]

Penguins Score 4-1 Win Over Hurricanes

It almost looked, for a while, like the Carolina Hurricanes were going to shut out the Pittsburgh Penguins.  Canes centre, Brandon Sutter, got his first career goal in the first period and the team held the Pens at bay until well into the third when, finally, captain Sidney Crosby scored a power play goal.  It […]

Ribeiro, Eriksson & Morrow Lifts Stars Over Isles

The Dallas Stars coach decided to reactivate the Mike Ribeiro/Loui Eriksson/Brendan Morrow line and it was a success!  The Stars enjoyed a 5-3 victory over the New York Islanders. The Isles had plenty of opportunities to take the lead, including a two-man advantage for a full two minutes in the second period but Dallas effectively […]

Bergeron Scores But Bruins Still Fall to Leafs

Boston Bruins centre, Patrice Bergeron, hasn’t scored a goal in over a year but, finally, tonight, he put one in the back of the net helped maintain his team’s lead tonight but the Toronto Maple Leafs rebounded and won the game 4-2.  If you remember, Bergeron was out for 72 games with a severe concussion […]
