Pens and Stars Swap Blueliners

TSN is reporting a presto change-o between the Dallas Stars and Pittsburgh Penguins.  Apparently, Dallas sent Philippe Boucher to the Pittsburgh while Darryl Sydor joined the Stars roster.
I was mildly surprised by the sudden swap of these veteran blueliners.  Boucher was in the final year of his contract and 3 points so far this […]

Wings Take on Penguins on Versus Tonight

Tonight’s match up between the 2008 Stanley Cup winners, the Detroit Red Wings, and the team they defeated in their victory, the Pittsburgh Penguins, will be aired on Versus and I’m looking forward to it.  I’m hoping it’s an emotional, gritty game so I hope they deliver!

Crosby Undisclosed Injury May be Sore Hip

Pittsburgh Penguins superstar, Sidney Crosby, raised questions after leaving during the game against the Phoenix Coyotes yesterday.
When asked about it afterwards he replied, “Honestly, I don’t even know what happened; I’d have to look at the tape. I just had some discomfort. I just decided in the third period I couldn’t do much.”
Spokesperson, Frank Buonomo, […]

San Jose Sharks Edge Pittsburgh Penguins

San Jose @ Pittsburgh - October 28, 2008
The San Jose Sharks opened scoring with a short-handed goal (Joe Pavelski) in the first period followed by a great back-hand goal by Mike Grier.  When the Pittsburgh Penguins did score in the third, it looked like Sharks goaltender, Evgeni Nabakov was off-balance and never quite recovered […]

Penguins Score 4-1 Win Over Hurricanes

It almost looked, for a while, like the Carolina Hurricanes were going to shut out the Pittsburgh Penguins.  Canes centre, Brandon Sutter, got his first career goal in the first period and the team held the Pens at bay until well into the third when, finally, captain Sidney Crosby scored a power play goal.  It […]

NHL Hockey Scores - October 20, 2008

The Pittsburgh Penguins went head-to-head with the Boston Bruins and came out victorious (2-1) after Evgeni Malkin scored in a shootout.  It was the first time that the Bruins have played at home and I`m sure they are wishing that Pens netminder, Dany Sabourin, had not had such a stellar night - the goaltender saved […]

Night of Milestones for Sidney Crosby!

Pittsburgh Penguins captain, Sidney Crosby, may have been scoreless for his first five games this season but he made up for it tonight in a big way.  In a 4-1 victory over the Toronto Maple Leafs, he scored his 100th career goal and notched 3 assists (which includes his 200th assist and 300th point!).  He […]

Penguins Beat Senators in Sweden

Ottawa Senators captain, Daniel Alfredsson, had to deal with a 4-3 overtime loss in his native land today when his team was defeated in the season opener by the Pittsburgh Penguins.  That must have sucked not only for him but for the Swedish fans.  Fortunately, it wasn’t the landslide victory I was worried it might […]

Malkin Signs 5-Year Deal with Pittsburgh

The Pittsburgh Penguins have locked up a deal to keep Evgeni Malkin playing on the team for the next five years.
I wondered what kind of deal he was going to get and, I must say, it’s a good one.  He’s been offered $43.5 million over half a decade.  That is an incredible deal for […]

Malkin Not Leaving Penguins for Russia

All kinds of rumors have been flying around about Evgeni Malkin since the NHL Draft last week (at least that was the first I had heard of them).
I heard that Malkin was offered $12.5 million (tax-free dollars, I might add) to play in Russia’s KHL and that he was considering leaving the Pittsburgh Penguins for […]
