McCabe Officially Traded To Florida

It’s official, friends.  Bryan McCabe is one of the Florida Panthers.  The veteran defenceman has left the Toronto Maple Leafs for a deal that will pay him $4.15 million for the next three years.  In order for the deal to take place, McCabe had to waive his no-movement clause.  In exchange, the Leafs will get […]

Buffalo Renews Numminen’s Contract

Veteran defenceman, Teppo Numminen, will be playing in the NHL for at least another year.  The Buffalo Sabres are paying him $1.1 million to stay on with the team after he was cleared to play by the Cleveland Clinic after having surgery to repair a heart valve.
“The number one reason was because we […]

Buffalo Sabres Ink Deal with Bouck

The Buffalo Sabres and forward Tyler Bouck have agreed to a contract (details remain undisclosed).  In 79 games as the captain of the Portland Pirates (AHL), he notched 11 goals, 18 assists and 86 penalty minutes.
Bouck was first drafted in the second round by the Dallas Stars in the 1998 and has since recorded four […]

Senators Extend Vermette’s Contract

Looks like the Ottawa Senators didn’t want to risk losing forward, Antoine Vermette (there were some rumblings about the Vancouver Canucks showing some interest) and have re-signed him to a two-year contract worth $5.525 million.
He had a great season last year and enjoyed career highs with 24 goals and 29 assists.  He also had […]

Ryan Miller Gets 5-Year Contract with Sabres

I’m happy about this.  Goaltender Ryan Miller seems like a good fit for the Buffalo Sabres and, although the team (and netminder) could have had a better season, I believe they can do well together once the organization recovers from the loss of players like Daniel Briere.
Buffalo has extended a 5-year contract worth […]

Maple Leafs Are Actually Giving Away Tickets

The Toronto Maple Leafs have added a pre-season game to their schedule on September 22, 2008 against the Buffalo Sabres and they are giving away all of the tickets for free.  Management is hoping for a different kind of crowd: “Getting more young kids in the building always adds to the excitement (and) just […]

Ray Emery Accepts Responsibilty on OTR

Former Ottawa Senators goaltender, Ray Emery, was on TSN’s “Off the Record” where he was asked a bunch of questions before he jets off to play in the Russian league.  Some of it was just silly but not all of it was fun and games - the “Razor” finally owned his role in the deterioration […]

Canadiens Give Goalie Halak 2-Year Deal

I’m pretty thrilled to report that goaltender Jaroslav Halak has been signed to a two-year, $1.55 million contract with the Montreal Canadiens.  Of course, the Habs are pretty famous for being fickle with goalies so I wouldn’t get too comfortable but I think it’s a good sign.  I’ve liked Halak since I first saw him […]

Ottawa Senators 2007-2008 Highlights

The season started exceptionally well for the Ottawa Senators and then, right around Christmas time, things just started to fall apart.  Many people have blamed goaltender, Ray Emery, for the troubles, saying he brought “bad energy” to the team and locker room.  I hate to say it but I’ve got to agree and despite the […]

Toronto Maple Leafs 2007-2008 Highlights

*Ahem* Don’t want to step on any toes here but typing the words “Toronto Maple Leafs” and “highlights” in the same sentence was a bit of a stretch for me (and I’m Canadian!).  I found this video on Youtube and, since it’s the off-season, thought I would start putting up montages of some of the […]
