Tampa Bay Coach Barry Melrose Fired!

Aw come on!  Already!?  I’m reading reports that the Tampa Bay Lightning have fired their new head coach, Barry Melrose.  I’m sad that it has ended this way because I was so excited when he returned to coaching after a 15 year (?) absence.  In the meantime, associate coach, Rick Tocchet, will be filling […]

Lecavalier Leads Bolts Past Maple Leafs

Tampa Bay Lightning @ Toronto Maple Leafs - October 28, 2008

Vincent Lecavalier did what a good captain should do - he led his team to a victory in a very close game.  Within two minutes of each other, Jussi Jokinen (Tampa Bay Lightning) and Matt Stajan (Toronto Maple Leafs) scored a goal for their […]

The New York Rangers celebrated a 2-1 victory over the Tampa Bay Lightning today in the season opener in the Czech Republic.  Just as Daniel Alfredsson failed to be victorious in Sweden during the Senators’ first official game of the season, Marcus Naslund also fell in his home country.

Tampa Bay Beats Berlin in Exhibition Game

If the Tampa Bay Lightning were tired or jetlagged at all from their trip, they sure didn’t show any signs of it.  They played an exhibition game against European team, Eisbaren Berlin, and skated away with an easy 4-1 victory.  It’s worth noting, though, that in order to win, Tampa goaltender, Olaf Kolzig, had […]

Lecavalier Named Tampa Bay Captain

Vincent Lecavalier has been named the captain of the Tampa Bay Lightning and, well, who is really surprised?  The team, who has locked up lots of big names in a big way, basically owns Vinny until the end of his career.
I don’t mean that in a disparaging way but, what I am saying is […]

Barry Melrose to Be Named Tampa Coach

I am absolutely thrilled that the rumors about Barry Melrose being named the new head coach of the Tampa Bay Lightning seem to be true!  I’ve been a big fan of the Melrose Line on ESPN and, even though it’s been a while since he was behind the bench, the man still knows what he’s […]
