Washington Capitals defenceman, Shaone Morrisonn, has been awarded a one-year, $1.975 million contract through arbitration. He posted one goal and nine assists in 76 games last season.
What are your thoughts on arbitration? Do you think they are worth all the hassle? Some teams offer deals to avoid it. What do you think of […]

Washington Capitals superstar, Alexander Ovechkin, accepted the Art Ross and the Rocket Richard trophies today as the NHL gave away some early prizes.
The Ross Trophy is awarded to the NHL scoring points leader and the Rocket Richard prize is given to the top goal-scorer. I would say that he deserved it - he finished the […]

The Washington Capitals got eliminated by the Philadelphia Flyers in game 7 of the 2008 Stanley Cup Playoffs. This was probably one of the most exciting series in the first round of the playoffs. Here is a video of the best moments in the Caps vs. Flyers series:

The Philadelphia Flyers visited the Washington Capitals and delivered the night’s first devastating elimination for me. The Flyers beat the Caps and their goals included a sketchy one that I don’t feel should have counted. It looked like goalie interference to me but the goal stood. When a team loses by just one goal (3-2) […]

The Washington Capitals looked like they weren’t going to make it and then they pushed ahead just before the deadline. It is really great to see Alexander Ovechkin in action but I worry that they could be eliminated during this first round. Who knows, though, right? They could be the real underdogs this year…
All the […]

The Washington Capitals got pretty much trounced last night when they visited the Pittsburgh Penguins. Philly started scoring in the first and just kept on through the third. To their credit, the Caps scored once per period but it just wasn’t enough. Here is the scoring summary:
WSH: Fehr, E. (17:21 in 1st), Green, M. (PPG, […]

The Philadelphia Flyers soundly shut out the Washington Capitals last night. I didn’t find it all that exciting of a game but here are the highlights:

Washington Capitals superstar, Alexander Ovechkin, has finally made it to the playoffs and he got his first goal a couple nights ago when the Caps defeated the Philadelphia Flyers (which was the same night when poor Patrick Thoresen took a puck to the groin).
Here’s the goal:
