The Colorado Avalanche faced the Detroit Red Wings for a second time at the Joe Louis Arena a couple nights ago. After losing Game 1, I’m sure the Avs were hoping to bounce back but, instead, they were beaten pretty badly. Detroit won 5-1 (Franzen got a hat trick) which spelled disaster for the opposing […]

The Colorado Avalanche visited the Detroit Red Wings last night for game one of their 2008 Stanley Cup semifinals series. I think this could be an interesting set of games but I do think the Wings are going to take it. They dominated the first period, scoring three times, and held their lead through the […]

It’s semifinals time. The 2008 Stanley Cup Playoffs has progressed to the next round and I’ve got to say that despite being disappointed by the elimination of some teams, I’m pretty psyched about some of these match ups. Should be an interesting series.
Here’s a look at the schedule:
MONTREAL CANADIENS vs. PHILADELPHIA FLYERS

I’m thrilled that the Washington Capitals have made it and that game against the Philadelphia Flyers was sick! I was on the edge of […]

This just sucks! Ryan Smyth was finally back on the ice for the Colorado Avalanche and tonight he was practically killed by Jack Johnson (Los Angeles Kings). It’s a scary hit and, as Don Cherry says in the video, there needs to be more protective foam covering that spot on the glass.
Watch the hit:

Peter Forsberg has signed a one-year contract with the Colorado Avalanche, the team where he spent nine seasons in Colorado from 1995-2004 and won the Stanley Cup with the Avalanche in 1996 and 2001.
I’m not a big fan of Forsberg who, after becoming an unrestricted free agent, hadn’t played hockey all season because of his […]

Colorado Avalanche fans rejoice! Top forwards captain Joe Sakic, Ryan Smyth and Paul Stastny are back on the ice! Sakic had hernia surgery and, until yesterday, had not skated since November! Ryan Smyth injured his ankle on New Year’s Eve and Paul Stastny had an appendectomy a few weeks ago.
These three guys have been missed […]
