Boston Bruins Shut Out Vancouver Canucks

Boston Bruins @ Vancouver Canucks - October 28, 2008
Last night the Boston Bruins headed to the west coast to play the Vancouver Canucks and won 1-0.  The Canucks and captain/goaltender, Roberto Luongo were shut out at home.  The Bruins have been on a winning streak so I wasn’t surprised that they were too hot […]

Looking Back at Opening Night for the NHL

Toronto Maple Leafs beat the Detroit Red Wings (3-2), the Boston Bruins were triumphant over the Colorado Avalanche (5-4), the Anaheim Ducks got chewed up by the San Jose Sharks (1-4) but it was the matchup between the Calgary Flames and the Vancouver Canucks that completely blew me away (and not just because I’m […]

Vancouver Names Luongo New Captain

The Vancouver Canucks have named goaltender, Roberto Luongo, their new captain.  It’s the first time a netminder has held that position for the team.  It’s interesting because the NHL doesn’t permit goalies to wear a “C” on his chest.
I have to admit that, although I can kinda see how it makes sense, I was a […]

Trevor Linden Announces Retirement

Vancouver Canucks forward, Trevor Linden, officially announced his retirement yesterday.  It was 20 years exactly from the day the Canucks chose him, 2nd overall, in the 1988 National Hockey League Entry Draft at the Montreal Forum. Linden spent 16 of his 19 NHL seasons in a Canucks uniform.
Rather than quote a bunch of places […]

Chris Pronger Suspension Coming?

Oh, I hope so and I’m not making any apologies for my opinion.  On Wednesday night, Chris Pronger of the Anaheim Ducks stomped on Ryan Kesler’s (Vancouver Canucks) leg.  It’s not even that different from what Chris Simon did to Jarkko Ruutu (see video here).  So, the league is looking at suspending him and he’s […]

Tootoo Hits Miller Video - March 6, 2008

Geez… I have a hard time being sympathetic to the Vancouver Canucks but this was kind of ridiculous.  Nashville Predators player, Jordin Tootoo, hit Aaron Miller (Canucks) and it looked like a nasty shoulder hit.  Man, it’s hard for me because I like Tootoo in so many ways but I think he needs to be […]

Canucks Mitchell Out with Broken Vertebra

Vancouver Canucks defenseman Willie Mitchell has been indefinitely knocked out of the lineup with a broken vertebra in his back.  The hockey club has recalled defenseman Nathan McIver from the AHL.
Mitchell has missed the last three games (even though he played through nine games with the injury!!!) but has skated on his own over the […]

Canucks: Bertuzzi Allegations "Scandalous"

Todd Bertuzzi testified to some controversial allegations when quizzed regarding the Steve Moore lawsuit.  In case you live under a rock and don’t know, Moore was injured during a March 2004 game when his team, the Colorado Avalache played Big Bert’s former team, the Vancouver Canucks.
Bertuzzi basically said that former Canucks coach, Marc Crawford, […]
