Chelios Comes Back for Another Year
Chris Chelios, who appears intent on breaking Gordie Howe’s record as the oldest person ever to play in the NHL, has signed a one-year contract with the Detroit Red Wings. The 45-year-old defenseman, currently the oldest player in the league, will be playing his 24th season and ninth with Detroit. While Chelios may be well into his fifth decade, his longevity in a young man’s sport probably has much to do with the intensity of his off-season training. Chelios has been training for more than a decade in Los Angeles with fitness guru T.R. Goodman, who counts a number of professional sports athletes as clients.
