Dallas Stars Acquire Jussi Timonen

by Jeanne on December 11th, 2007

The Philadelphia Flyers have given Jussi Timonen to the Dallas Stars in return for a conditional 2009 draft choice.

"With the Phantoms having two defencemen coming back from injury, we will have a logjam on defence," Flyers general manager Paul Holmgren said. "This will give Jussi an opportunity to play."

Uh huh… Well, Timonen, 24, has 7 assists in 14 games this season with the Philadelphia Phantoms — the Flyers’ American Hockey League affiliate. Last season he recorded four assists and six penalty minutes in 14 games with the Flyers.

A fifth-round pick of the Flyers in 2001, Timonen is the younger brother of Philadelphia defenceman Kimmo Timonen.

I smell Neidermayer syndome… Oh, it’s not funny - sorry :(
