Franzen Back in Detroit Line-Up for Game 2

by Jeanne on May 26th, 2008

May 15, 2007; Detroit Red Wings center Johan Franzen during Game 3 of the Western Conference finals against the Anaheim Ducks at The Honda Center in Anaheim, CA. The Red Wings won 5-0.

The Detroit Red Wings must be thrilled by this news: Johan Frazen will be back in the lineup tonight as they take on the Pittsburgh Penguins in Game Two.

The Swedish forward had been sidelined with concussion-like symptoms and has not dressed for a game since Game One of the Western Conference Final against the Dallas Stars.

Franzen, who was able to participate in a full practice yesterday, said: “It’s better, I don’t feel anything anymore.  It’s good.  There will be so much adrenaline, it doesn’t matter what shape you’re in.”

Uhhh… I’m not sure that’s the smartest thing I’ve ever heard.  Of course, it matters what shape you’re in when you step on to the ice.  I guess I can understand, though.  Franzen, even after missing so many games, is still tied with teammate Henrik Zetterberg for the NHL lead with 12 playoff goals.  He’s a clear asset in the postseason.
