Holmstrom Trying to Shake Off Injury
Detroit Red Wings forward, Tomas Holmstrom, suffered a hamstring injury during the game the other night and, while it might have seemed like an opportunity for a break for Pittsburgh Penguins netminder, Marc-Andre Fleury, Holmstrom has decided to shake it off and keep playing. The scheduling of the games may have been a crucial factor in determining whether he dresses for Game 4 in Steel Town or not: “I had a good rest and a bike ride and treatments, so I look forward to playing,” said Holmstrom. “The extra day off definitely helps. I’m going to skate tomorrow morning and see how it feels. If it goes like this, I think I’m going to be OK.”
“Homer” was injured when he collided with Pens d-man, Hal Gill, during the third period of Game 3 (see picture above of him getting up slowly). “I was going hard to the net in the third period,” Holmstrom said. “I just kind of got opened up and one leg was up in the air and other on the ice.
For the Wings sake, I hope Holmstrom can play because he really is great with getting near the crease and being deep in a play. Fleury is looking for his 20th consecutive win on home ice so I’m sure this is going to be an intense game.
