Malkin Not Leaving Penguins for Russia
All kinds of rumors have been flying around about Evgeni Malkin since the NHL Draft last week (at least that was the first I had heard of them).
I heard that Malkin was offered $12.5 million (tax-free dollars, I might add) to play in Russia’s KHL and that he was considering leaving the Pittsburgh Penguins for the ultra lucrative deal.
So, here’s the interesting part - the report is totally true but his agent says that Malkin has no desire to leave the NHL and return to Russia.
In case you haven’t heard about it, the KHL is replacing the Russian Super League and potential NHL defectors like Chris Simon and John Grahame have already made it clear that they would leave to play there. Some people are worried that their crazy offers are going to lure NHL players over to Russia but I’m not terribly worried about that…
