Mats Sundin Will Make Decision August 1
Honestly, it’s long overdue but reports are saying that Mats Sundin will decide whether to retire or continue playing in the NHL on August 1, 2008.
There have been all kinds of rumours about where he’s going and I believe, like most people, that if he stays in the league, he will join the Vancouver Canucks. Apparently, it’s also still possible that the Toronto Maple Leafs captain will stay in Toronto. Well, no matter how you look at it, it’s great to be 37 years old and still generating this kind of buzz. Good on ya, Sundin!

if he makes this decision FINALLY !!!!!!! cause people here in Vancouver are so tired of waiting for him. If he says no Mike Gillis is screwed cause all the cap money the Canucks made for Sundin will have gone to waste and really there are no good NHL players in the free agency anymore. Even if Sundin says yes the Canucks are still screwed cause the Canucks will have an over crowed team.So this whole thing in the first place was sorta a bad idea, although having mats here in Vancouver would be pretty cool.

It’s funny how Montreal is no longer in the decor! Don’t rule out the Habs as they offer the best product on the ice. I think that it would be the ultimate insult for Toronto but will also be an awakening as an organizational stand point of view. Toronto fans deserve better but have to start from scratch.

He won’t go to Vancouver, they don’t have a hope of the cup. I wouldn’t be too surprised to see him make a move like Paul Kariya did a few years back (when he went to Colorado for under a million) and go to Detroit or Pittsburgh or some other legitimate contender for less than he could get in Vancouver.

Mats said he doesnt want to travel much and that he wishes to stay in the east.. So you honestly think he will go to vancouver, farthest west AND the team that travels the most and has one of the toughest calendar this season.. come on. And for toronto? The way they treated him at the deadlines, no way is he gonna go back there with a team that has NOTHING and will propably never win another cup. Same for vancouver, i dont see the day they will win lol.. So, that being said , Montreal is THE choice if he is serious about hockey and not only cash. 100th year , fans will be crazy , play in front of the greates hockey crowd in the league, with a team that with him, are seriously a threat to the wings. Pitsburgh lost alot and i dont think will be the same team this year, its between montreal and wings.

Mats Sundin is heavily rumoured to be going to the Vancouver Canucks. However, if you look at one team where the addition makes alot of sense look no furthe than the New York Rangers. Sundin would join a team that is loaded with offensive talent. Chris Drury, Scott Gomez and then throw in fellow countrymen Markus Naslund and Henrik Lundqvist and all of a sudden a deal to the big apple doesn’t seem to outrageous after all. If it does happen, regardless of age, you have to believe the Rangers are legitimate Stanley Cup contenders and no longer pretenders.

I have to concur. I really think the Rangers have come out of nowhere to be in the top two along with Montreal. If he goes to Vancouver, it could be whole other Messier debacle again - those were the worst years in awhile!

if mats sundin goes to the rangers its a good deal on there behalf. Mats sundin will enter a team with a great offensive core with gomez drury naslund and lundqvist as goltender not to mention small travel and a weaker eastern confrence. New York travel between Phillie, New Jersey, Ny islanders and boston is all taken by bus which is a benafit for him.
Sunndin isnt goin make a decision today(August 1rst) it was a soft deadline
