I wouldn’t even want to talk about the Toronto Maple Leafs at this point but he does (he has to). Anyway, here’s the goods:

I don’t think it’s any secret that the Toronto sports media loves it when the Leafs are doing poorly. I always hear people say that MLSE has no interest in the team getting better, but considering the extra benefits vis-a-vis merchandising and advertising deals when a team does well, I think it’s an oversimplification to say that MLSE is not interested in winning. However, the press does have a vested interest in the team continuing to lose, so I think it’s perfectly fair to say that they’re enjoying what’s going on right now with the team.

That having been said, I can not express how pissed off I would be if the team decided to fire Maurice and keep Ferguson. I hope the final outcome of this will be the firing of Ferguson at the very least, although I am rather ambivalent on the issue of keeping/firing Maurice. Either way though, anyone at MLSE that thinks that firing Maurice and keeping Ferguson is a good idea needs to have their head examined.
