Mike York: Bargain?

by Mark on July 10th, 2007

I’ve been a Mike York fan for a long time. He’s not the biggest player around but has enough offensive savvy to fare well in the new NHL. The last couple of seasons, however, he seems to have been lost in the shuffle after being traded to Philadelphia, Edmonton and the New York Islanders.

Still, he has the potential to be a solid player at the right price. Clearly, the Phoenix Coyotes are thinking this way after signing York to a one-year, $1-million contract. For the record, York has 308 points (121 goals, 187 assists) in 515 career regular-season games. It’s one of those no-lose deals that makes a GM look like a genius if they work out.
