Muckler Days Numbered

A lot of general managers who sell their first born child to make the Stanley Cup final but for Ottawa’s John Muckler, it looks like getting to the final but not winning it could mean he’s looking at being unemployed soon. According to Sun Media, the Senators could fire the 73-year-old as early as today just a week after the team bowed in five disappointing games to the Anaheim Ducks. He may be replaced by Ottawa coach Bryan Murray.
It does seem somewhat ironic that Muckler is apparently getting the boot despite Ottawa’s success while Toronto GM John Ferguson may get a contract extension even though the Maple Leafs haven’t made the playoffs in three years and have yet to make any off-season moves to suggest they have a shot at making the playoffs in 2007/08. Go figure, eh!
