Ottawa Senators Fire Head Coach

by Jeanne on February 28th, 2008

The trade deadline is barely cold and already coaches are getting the boot!  The Ottawa Senators have given head coach, John Paddock, the old heave-ho and GM, Bryan Murray, will step in while continuing his managerial duties.

“It’s shocking really that it comes to this,” Murray said. “It’s disappointing from everybody’s point of view.”

Assistant coach Ron Low was also fired Wednesday, a day after the team was shut out for the second consecutive game.

With just 18 games left in a season, it is a scary time to be shaking things up but I guess when you think it’s your only chance to make the playoffs, it makes sense.  Still, I wouldn’t want to be in that situation as a player…

It makes you wonder how stable things are in Ottawa. They may in a downward spiral they can’t get out of. If anyone will settle them down it will be Murray.

Yeah, the Sens seem like one big mess to me, right now. For their sake, I hope this improves things. They have all the right ingredients, it’s too bad it’s all taken a turn for the worse.
