Penguins Win Game Three in 3-2 Victory!

by Jeanne on May 28th, 2008

NHL STANLEY CUP FINALS YEAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAH, BABY!!!!!!!!!!  What a game!!!  The 2008 Stanley Cup Playoffs are officially on!  I was on the edge of my seat for most of the 60 minutes of play but if I can be honest, this game was just the latest episode of the Crosby Show.

Pittsburgh Penguins captain, Sidney Crosby, earned his weight in gold as he led his team out of the scary position they were in and emerged as a hero.  He notched not one but two of the three goals scored tonight (Adam Hall scored the third), he was physical and showed why he deserves to be the youngest captain of any NHL team in history.

The Detroit Red Wings definitely did not go down without a fight.  This was a battle to the finish and rather than watching both teams slow down after the second break, they burst into the final period with more energy than ever!  Gary Roberts brought his veteran skills to the game for the Pens and those legs looked fresher than the young pair under Evgeni Malkin.

The goaltending on both teams was solid but I have to give Marc-Andre Fleury major props for his 32 saves after being so badly rattled during those first two games (and that fall as he stepped on to the ice two nights ago).

Game 4 is scheduled for Saturday night in Pittsburgh.  Hopefully, this break will give Malkin some time to rest his little hooves since he has apparently been complaining about being “too tired.”
