by Jeanne on February 15th, 2008

Carolina's Rod Brind'Amour falls to the ice after hurting his knee in Thursday's win over Pittsburgh. The captain is expected to miss the rest of the season with torn left ACL.The Carolina Hurricanes have lost captain Rod Brind’Amour for the remainder of the season due to a torn ACL.  He will be having reconstructive surgery on his left knee today.  Canes doc, Marty Isbell, says that Brind’Amour will be out of play for four to six months.

Brind’Amour, 37, got the injury last night during the first period of the Canes’ 4-2 victory over the Pittsburgh Penguins.  He had 19 goals and 32 assists this season.

This just plain sucks for the Carolina Hurricanes.

It’s a shame to see top players go down for the rest of the season right before the playoffs. You always have to think then when a team gets beat “what if?”…it can happen to any team too.
