Will the Leafs Go After UFAs?
With $6.7-million of salary cap space (and another $5-million if they want to go over the salary-cap budget during the summer), the Maple Leafs have the ability to go hard after one or two free-agents.
But the question is whether the bigger free-agents such as Ryan Smyth, Jason Blake, Chris Drury and Scott Gomez are interested in Toronto given team is a few more major pieces away from being a legitimate Stanley Cup contender. So far, general manager John Ferguson’s off-season moves (re-signing Nik Antropov, etc.) leave much to be desired. Check out the Toronto Star for more.
